So excited!!

Tomorrow my dear, sweet cousin and her husband are coming to visit from Florida! They are thrilled they might actually get to see snow…seen as they live in FLORIDA.  (That was for any of you who might be caught in the cold and ice in the midwest and east coast…of which I would like to say: send some snow to us!)

Anyway, I am thrilled they are coming out.  We get to go skiing, eat good and fancy food made by my brother, drink some wine, and just overall have a good time.   The girls are excited they are going to have “fresh meat” in the house.  They love house guests – except for the prerequisite cleaning that must take place.  They love having extra big people around who want to smother them with love.  (Well that, and I’m letting them take off from school work while we have guests, so I’m sure that has something to do with it.)  I hope to remember to take pictures so I can share the love.

Wednesday check-in with the Sisters

I am quite proud of myself for this past week.  I have been pushing myself slightly on the treadmill, so I”ve been running farther.  Last Friday I went to Costco and they had Wii Fit’s.  I’ve wanted one partly to see what all the fuss was about, and partly because I think it would be nice to have an alternative to the treadmill for exercising.  (Although, if I don’t get to sync my iPod with Nike+, I don’t really feel like I’m accomplishing anything because I can’t look at a pretty graph associated with my numbers!)  So Friday afternoon after putting Sweet Pea down for a nap, I geared up and did my longest run in a very long time.  I ran for 3 miles and walked another 1.5 miles.  I have forgotten to mention that after I get off the treadmill, I also jump rope 100 times, and do at least 25 lunges.  I find this helps strengthen my muscles at the end of the workout by doing something a little different with them.  So after all of that, I broke out the Wii Fit.  I went through all the Yoga and all teh Strength Training.  I was so sore Saturday!  The Wii Fit told me I’m pretty strong, but my balance sucks.  I despise the balance exercises.  I have yet to succeed at any of them consistently.  And not to mention the hula hooping.  I don’t think I’ve made it over above 25 spins.  Sass and Smarty Pants have gotten much farther than I.

Yesterday I went skiing with the girls.  I could feel how much stronger my legs have gotten in the past week.  I’m thrilled to feel my muscles regaining life and strength.  But I’m not sure I would have the level of motivation if it were for the Sisters!

What I learned this week

I found this over at Musings of a Housewife and thought what the heck.  It might make me ponder throughout the week about something fascinating to me…which could be something kid related, work related, or just plain life-in-general related.

So this week it happens to be kid related.  What I learned this week was that mass quantities of humor can be found in watching a 3yo try and exercise on a Wii Fit – watching her attempt to hula hoop is hysterical.  Granted, I can’t get the damn hula hoop to go more than about 20 times, but that’s not the point!

Check me out!

This is MY president

Talk about hitting the ground running…and after night of partying even.  This article says it all.  There is video of his executive order of Day 1.

It’s Wednesday

It’s time for the weekly check in with the Sisterhood.  This past week was not my best.  I had nightly committments almost every night last week, which meant that I had to get my work done in the afternoons as opposed to at night.  My afternoons are when I jump on the treadmill.  I also spent the weekend (literally the whole weekend) at a scrapbooking marathon and sat on my behind all day Saturday and Sunday.  I didn’t eat the healthiest either, but I didn’t just consume crap all day.  My body wasn’t screaming at me to eat and snack as my hands were busy all day.  So all in all, it was the worst week for me for exercise (or lack thereof) and not the best in the way of food.  I’ve been trying to make up for it since.  Monday I did 4 miles on the treadmill instead of my obligatory 3.5.  Yesterday I went skiing again with the girls.  Which is a ton of cardio due to the fact that I’m hauling at least 2 pairs of skis and a kid around with ski boots on for most of the day.  I’m planning on getting on the treadmill today and maybe even tomorrow and Friday.  I am still within reach of my goal of 30 miles for the month of January.  I think as of this past Monday I had 21 miles.  We will see how far over my goal I go, which will predict what my goal for February will be.  I’m planning on this week being significantly better than last week.

The Ipod shuffle – “Caution”

3. YOU MUST WRITE THAT SONG NAME DOWN NO MATTER HOW SILLY IT SOUNDS (option to put the name of artist in brackets next to it)
